The Government’s plans to halve energy bills for businesses and other organisations for the next six months create a ‘window of opportunity’ for companies to invest in long-term, sustainable solutions to the energy crisis, the boss of a leading battery and energy storage firm said today.
Mark Thompson, managing director of the AceOn group, and member of the national Faraday Battery Challenge Advisory Group for UK Government, says long-term solutions are essential if the country is to avoid a repeat of the current crisis next Spring.
“Today’s announcement of a new Government scheme to support businesses through the energy crisis – the Energy Bill Relief Scheme – is welcome but will only provide very temporary relief from the pain of spiralling energy costs. It should be seen as a ‘window of opportunity’ to help businesses to make the changes required to secure their long-term energy security,” Mark said.
“If we are to avoid more of the same later down the line, long term solutions are needed – and these must focus on the role of renewable energy to help businesses reduce their costs and increase their independence from the UK energy market.
“Six months gives time to review your energy needs and to look at what the options and opportunities are to help bring down costs and carbon emissions. An obvious example is to install solar panels combined with battery storage which can generate and store free and green electricity. But businesses and organisations can in many circumstances reduce their bills and even earn income simply by installing battery storage that can trade and support the Grid”.
“We at AceOn want to help as many businesses as possible in these challenging times. We want businesses and organisations across the country to know about the batteries and renewables that we offer as a ‘one-stop’ solution that can help them to take greater control of their energy future.”
Telford-based AceOn is at the cutting edge of battery and energy storage technology, playing a leading role in developing systems which cut emissions, reduce bills and deliver clean, green power for commercial and residential uses.
