Founded in 2019
Kore Power is a new company by battery standards, having been launched in 2019 with the goal of providing clean energy to millions. By 2020, Kore announced its first project in collaboration with Northern Reliability. The initial project between the two focused on the Nomad Transportable Power Project, but the work led to an acquisition two years later. It has enabled Kore Power to launch a full-service storage integrator that now operates as a division of the US-based battery manufacturer.
Northern Reliability has an excellent track record of battery energy storage products, with more than 1,000 projects delivered across the Americas, extending as far as the remote islands surrounding Antarctica. As a result of the partnership, Kore is able to rely on and draw upon the 50+ years of experience boasted by Northern Reliability, which will be central to the company’s growth and progression throughout the coming decade as demand for lithium-ion batteries increases.
UL9540A
As battery technology has developed, so too have the safety measures developed to ensure that storage systems adhere to strict fire safety regulations. In 2021, Kore Power successfully completed UL 9540A, a new industry-wide safety testing standard for all companies involved in battery manufacturing in North America. The passing of UL 9540A marked the completion of the key safety certifications and testing required to deploy Kore Power’s energy storage solutions in different parts of the world, which again is key to the growth of the company.
The introduction of 20 Ah LFP
In 2022, Kore Power announced the launch of the 20 Ah LFP cell, which has been designed for optimal performance when installed in a range of applications. Specifically, the cell can be used in electric vehicles, hybrids, and plug-in hybrid applications, highlighting its versatility. The introduction of the cell is key to Kore Power’s battery energy storage solutions across North America and will be fundamental as and when the uptake of electric cars increases on the continent. Ultimately, Kore Power will remain a key player in the battery energy storage industry as the need for clean energy increases in the near future.
