AceOn Group has partnered with BMZ Group to provide the UK market with a battery energy storage distribution, training and service centre.
Our team of energy storage experts is responsible for installing and distributing state-of-the-art battery storage systems throughout the UK. In partnership with local councils, housing associations and home builders, we’re helping lead Britain to a brighter, greener, and more sustainable future.
What is battery energy storage?
But what exactly do we mean when we say, ‘battery energy storage?’ In layman’s terms, a battery energy storage system is a technology developed for storing electric charge by using specially designed batteries.
The battery receives its energy from the sun [via solar panels], which enables the user to access the stored energy later. During the hours of sunlight, the battery storage system is charged by the excess electricity received from solar through an inverter.
When the energy is received, the battery system will store the energy, and it is then discharged during times of high usage if the Solar PV generation cannot provide enough electricity to meet the demand. AceOn also offer an intelligent battery system that can be optimised through our smart energy platform to make best use of the Solar PV generation whilst also trading spare capacity back to the grid, you can read more on our Renewergy Virtual Power Plant here
It’s a pioneering solution to energy wastage and will provide millions of people across the UK with renewable, sustainable energy long into the future.
At AceOn, we stock and distribute a range of both low and high voltage battery energy storage systems to meet our client’s exacting specifications. You can browse our catalogue of energy storage products here.
How is this technology implemented in homes in the UK?
AceOn Group is pioneering the rollout of home battery energy storage with our partners in the UK. Here’s a step-by-step guide to how our battery storage systems are being implemented into homes throughout the United Kingdom:
Step 1: The fitted solar panels take in sunlight during the day.
Step 2: Energy then travels as a direct current through the hybrid solar inverter to enable it to be converted into alternating current energy that is used by everyday home appliances.
Step 3: The hybrid solar inverter directs the solar energy to where it is needed in your home. It will begin by powering the necessary appliances before directing excess to the battery.
Step 4: The excess energy is converted back to direct current (DC) therefore meaning the DC battery energy storage system can store the energy that can be accessed at a later stage.
Step 5: The battery energy storage system stores the energy to be used when your solar panels are not receiving daylight [at night or during poor weather].
What are the benefits of home battery storage?
With climate change caused by global warming wreaking havoc throughout the world, the onus is on the human population to turn to more environmentally friendly ways of producing energy.
At AceOn, we believe that home energy storage systems will provide our ever-burgeoning population with affordable, renewable energy long into the future and will restrict and eventually eliminate the use of harmful fossil fuels that are causing such damage to the world around us.
Let’s look at some of the main benefits of installing home battery storage systems throughout the UK:
Renewable energy is used more efficiently.
Thanks to the specially designed batteries within a home energy storage system, you no longer have to worry about the high level of wastage coming from solar energy sources. This was long a complaint of critics of solar energy, and the capacity of these batteries to store excess energy and turn to it at night or when the weather is bad is a significant step in the right direction and makes renewable energy much more efficient.
Reduced dependency on the national grid.
A competent, fully integrated home energy storage system reduces your dependency on the national grid. You no longer have to worry about blackouts or grid shortages, as you have your own energy stored at home.
Reduced carbon footprint.
If we’re going to successfully tackle climate change, we all need to reduce our carbon footprints. Installing solar batteries is a significant step towards self-sufficiency and reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and minimises pollution.
Minimise electric bills.
For any homeowner, monthly electricity bills seem to be getting more and more expensive. Although your home energy storage system won’t eliminate your electricity bill, it will enable you to only take electricity from the grid when it is cheap to do so [during off-peak periods]. As a result, you won’t face astronomical monthly electricity bills from utility companies.
Is home battery storage right for me?
Although solar energy has been around for decades, its emergence as a viable, affordable, and sustainable home energy system has only recently been realised. As technologies have advanced, smart battery systems are now capable of storing energy and saving you money.
So, the question to ask yourself is this: do I want to save money on my home electricity consumption while reducing my carbon footprint at the same time?
If the answer is yes, then home battery storage is right for you and is something you should seriously consider.
